Family Run Restaurant Fills To-Go Order For Regulars And The Tip Has Staff In Tears

The family run restaurant, Colonial Steakhouse in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, received quite a blessing during the COVID-19 pandemic. When a regular customer ordered to-go, they left their entire stimulus check as the tip!

Allison Hall works as the General Manager at the Colonial Steakhouse in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Her parents are the owners. And like many other businesses, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has hit the family run restaurant hard.

“Things have been barely getting by but we are making it. though,” Allison explained.

Usually, the business operates with 12 staff members. But during these troubling times, they've had to cut back to 4, with curbside pick up as the only option for providing meals. The family run restaurant also had to cut back to opening only 3 days a week.

So, in these scary, uncertain times, acts of kindness shine even more brightly. And an unexpected blessing from a regular customer is helping keep hope alive!

Family Run Restaurant Gets Help From Regulars

Allison surely wasn't expecting anything out of the ordinary as she ran a to-go order for one of the restaurant's regular customers. But then she took a look at the tip amount -- $1,200!

“She was just sobbing and saying it was their whole stimulus,” said Dana Gateley, owner of Colonial Steakhouse in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

After the government sent out stimulus checks in an attempt to help the struggling economy, this individual opted to pass their payment on to the staff at the family run restaurant.

“We just started crying and thanking God because it came at a time that most of our staff really needed it,” Allison said. “It was nice to be able to call with some good news.”

The tip was enough so that every employee, even those not working that day, could receive $100.

And the act of kindness went a long way in boosting everyone's spirits during such trying times. But it also gave the family run restaurant motivation to keep on going.

"We’ve been open for a very long time, nearly 50 years," Allison explained. "So we’re stubborn and we aren’t giving up. We are not going to give up."

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
