Little Girl Gets a Big Elf On the Shelf Surprise Honoring the Little Brother Who Passed Away

A little girl gets a big Elf On The Shelf surprise honoring her little brother who passed away. For many of us, we know the gnawing ache of missing a loved one. Our hearts hold a special place that nothing can fill as we look forward to the day we are reunited with our loved ones. We especially feel the ache and grief during the holiday season. We look for their faces in the crowd and can’t help but wonder if we hear their whisper of a voice above it all.

One mom knows the ache so intimately. Emberly lost her baby boy, Tatum, a mere five months after he was born. He was supposed to grow up and be a part of the family. He was supposed to annoy his big sister. But for reasons beyond our comprehension, God called him home.

As She Passed By An Elf, An Idea Came to Her

Despite her grief, she was shopping for much-needed items for the family when she passed an Elf, and an idea came to her.  She said, “I saw some elves for sale. Instantly, the idea popped into my mind: ‘Gracie is going to get two elves this year: Hers and Tatum’s.’”

After the Elf On The Shelf in the spirit of Tatum was born, she purchased items and went home to write a letter to Gracie from her little brother. She then recorded the moment Gracie got to read the letter and get a gift from Tatum. The moment will melt your heart.

The caption read, “What happens to your sibling’s elf when your brother is in heaven?” This moment will melt your heart as Gracie’s daddy reads the letter to her, and Harley records the special moment. She added,  “I always try to find little ways to keep Tatum’s memory alive. Inside my entire soul, I felt this was a special way to actively remember Tatum this holiday season.”

Using Elf On The Shelf To Make Special Memories is a Wonderful Idea

Harley commented about one of the elves, “He can fly to the North Pole and to heaven to send Tatum messages from Gracie. Gracie loves that. Gracie talks to her elves constantly, almost as if they are her friends. This idea has, in a unique way, made it feel like we get to talk to Tatum every day.”

What a beautiful way to keep the memory of a loved one alive. Undoubtedly, Gracie will have lots to say to her brother Tatum when she gets to heaven one day. She will have plenty to say about the elf’s antics on top of everything she experienced without him. Either way, a special bond is forming, and we can thank the Lord for these moments.
