One woman posted a desperate plea after spotting an elderly veteran struggling to make deliveries. And it’s so wonderful to hear how she was able to make a difference.
It’s disheartening to hear that sometimes, our veterans are not being taken care of in the way they should be.

Many fall through the cracks for simple resources like food, clothing, and shelter. Many, despite their injuries and age, end up taking odd jobs to help make ends meet.
Jen Cantell Weiss, a Utah woman, harnessed the power of social by sharing video footage of an elderly veteran struggling up her steps to make a delivery.
She wrote on a Facebook post, “I had an order delivered this AM and the gentleman doing the delivery really struggled getting up my stairs with the pack of soda. I didn't watch this video til after he was already gone, or else I would have gone out to help him. Seeing this video makes me feel so bad.”

But God intervened in a mighty way. One of the relatives of the veteran saw the footage and helped Jen get in touch with him.
She learned Larry Robley suffered a stroke earlier in 2020 and had to relearn how to walk. She then discovered he took the job delivering groceries in order to cover repairs for his roof.
Feeling led to help him in any she could, she shared his story on Facebook, saying he took the delivery job to pay for repairs to his roof and appealed for people to help him with the costs.
“He was so careful and particular with how he placed things and arranged them on my porch. This was clearly a man who takes great pride in his work, even if it is just delivering someone's groceries. He obviously has a great work ethic even with his health struggles and that really made me want to help him however I could,” Jen shared.
Much to her surprise and Larry’s, the donations for the elderly veteran began to pour in. Larry was overwhelmed with gratitude that strangers cared enough to help him.
In fact, so many donations came in that he humbly requested that those wishing to help should donate to Toys for Tots because he had enough in donations to make the repairs and quit his job.

This is what it looks like to help the poor and honor those who have fought for our freedom. This is what love and respect look like for the older generation. But don’t take my word for it, watch for yourself.
“In all things, I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35
