Wife's Warning After Losing Husband And Unborn Son To Drunk Driver
September 27, 2016
Young Widow's Warning About Drunk Driving
When Kristian Guerrero held her baby boy for the first time, it should have been a time of joy for her and her husband, Fabian. Instead it was a time of intense sorrow. Her baby boy, named Fabian James after his father, was stillborn. Instead of being able to lean on her husband for comfort, Kristian cried tears of grief for him, too. That's because a car accident caused by an intoxicated driver is responsible for both her husband's and son's deaths. And now she's sharing her tragic story on Facebook as a drunk driving warning everyone needs to hear.
Drunk Driving: What It Really Looks Like
When Kristian's story first came out, the news flooded their reports with charming photos from the day she married Fabian. But after one driver's poor decision changed Kristian's life forever, she wanted to show what the consequences of drunk driving really looked like.
“Everybody has been seeing photos of our wedding and it’s just a beautiful couple,” she said. “I wanted people to see the hurt, the pain and all the damage that a drunk driver caused.”
And so, Kristian shared photos from that awful day, along with a post explaining how drunk driving had changed her life forever.

Her post on Facebook read:
"This is me finally being able to hold my son. This is what being in an induced labor for almost 24 hrs after surviving a car crash that killed my husband and my son looks like.
All because someone thought it was okay to get wasted and drive.
[caption id="attachment_31470" align="aligncenter" width="383"] Credit: Facebook / Kristian Guerrero[/caption]It's not okay.
It IS okay to stop a friend from driving, it IS okay to take someone's keys away from them when they're showing signs of being drunk. And it IS okay to pick up the phone and call for a ride if you find yourself feeling a little too tipsy. It's not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of maturity to be honest with yourself and know the consequences of driving drunk outweigh any kind of shame you might feel admitting you're too drunk to drive.
What's not okay is spending the rest of your life with the guilt of knowing you've taken someone's life and taken someone's life away before they even got a chance to be in this world. It's not worth it.
Don't drink and drive. Don't risk your freedom. You're putting not only your life in danger but also everyone else on the road.
I could've died aug 2nd but God had other plans. I'm left behind to fight this fight for my husband and my son. And I will continue to spread awareness and share this story until the day I die in hopes it prevents anyone else from feeling the pain I walk around with every day. I refuse to let my husband and my sons deaths be in vain."

Letting God Use Her Story
Though Kristian is walking through one of the most difficult things imaginable, it's truly inspiring to see her using such an immense tragedy to try to help others. She knows God has given her this purpose.
“I literally walked to the ambulance," she said. "The only injury I have to deal with for the rest of my life is a scar above my right eye. And I really feel like that’s for a reason.”
We pray that Kristian continues to find strength and comfort in the hands of our Heavenly Father. Her message is one everyone needs to hear, and we thank her for having the courage to share it.

Worrying does nothing to benefit our lives in any way; it only takes away. It takes away the present moments and present joy you could experience, not to mention it takes away from a peaceful life.
