Children With Down Syndrome Create Powerful Christmas Nativity
At Christmas time it isn’t uncommon for a church to put on a Christmas Nativity to honor the birth of Jesus. And this church is creating a very special Nativity thanks to local children with Down Syndrome and a message for the broken. When this priest and his wife discovered their daughter, Leeva, had Down Syndrome they were filled with a mix of emotions. Why had God brought them a little girl with so many challenges. For a long time this mom prayed looking for an answer. She felt she was getting nothing. But it was then that she realized God was taking time to show her that nothing was wrong with Leeva but rather that she was looking at Leeva all wrong. The baby God gave Mary was nothing like the one she planned. But when we trust our lives to the Lord we trust that His plan is greater than anything we could ever imagine. Seeing all of these children and young men and women with Down Syndrome come together to tell their very special version of the Nativity is truly moving. God was with Mary through the struggle of telling Joseph God’s plan, God was with Leeva’s mother as she grieved what she had planned for her baby girl and God is with all of us no matter what we are going through. This Nativity story truly said it best “He came to our darkness from Heaven above. He stooped to the crib and the cross out of love. He shared in our weakness, meekness and mess, and still he embraced us nevertheless. A Prayer for Transforming Worry into Trust - Your Daily Prayer - October 24

Worrying does nothing to benefit our lives in any way; it only takes away. It takes away the present moments and present joy you could experience, not to mention it takes away from a peaceful life.
