In "Goodnight with Dolly" from the Imagination Library, country legend Dolly Parton reads books to kids at bedtime. It's her way of trying to bring some peace to the stressful times of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, be sure to gather up all the kids and grandkids!

As someone who came from humble beginnings, Dolly Parton greatly values the power of reading books.

Not only does reading help with learning, language development, and concentration, but it also allows us to tap into the wonderful God-given gift of imagination.

Through the use of imagination, books can take us to all kinds of different times, places, and scenarios. And all without ever physically leaving our homes!

During these stressful times, when so many families are sheltering-at-home due to the coronavirus, this temporary escape has become even more important.

And that's what makes "Goodnight with Dolly", where Dolly Parton reads books to kids, so awesome!

Sharing The Joy Of Reading

Dolly started the Imagination Library in 1995 as a way to help kids living in Sevier County, Tennessee (where Dolly Parton grew up) read books. But the program became so popular, it eventually rolled out nationally.

It's just one of the many ways Dolly helps kids and families all around the country. And when the coronavirus started forcing everyone into quarantine, the Christian celebrity stepped up to do her part yet again.

April 2020 kicked off a 10-week video series called "Goodnight with Dolly", where Dolly Parton reads books from the Imagination Library. It's her way of comforting and reassuring children during these scary and confusing times.

“This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while, but the timing never felt quite right," Dolly explained. "I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love. It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think.”

This sweet, firecracker of a woman already has such a calming way about her. And as someone who has been blessed with so much, it's amazing to see how she constantly looks for ways to bless others.

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
