Dolly Parton giving to others from her generous heart is just something that this country icon does. But her generosity was recently honored with an award.

Dolly Parton received the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy at Gotham Hall in New York, along with six other honorees. And the long list of generous things Dolly has done is the picture of a “cheerful giver.”
For years, Dolly Parton has been quietly paying for the band uniforms of many Tennessee high schools. She also started the "Imagination Library." This is a program for children under the age 5 where they receive a free book every month. This initiative was started to inspire a love of reading in children, and 2 million free books are sent out each month!
Dolly also gave back when she used the songwriting royalties she earned from Whitney Houston versions of "I Will Always Love You,” a song that Dolly wrote. She used the money to purchase a strip mall in Nashville to support the surrounding black community in Whitney Houston's honor.
On top of that, Dolly Parton has made numerous large donations to charities, scholarships, and disaster relief. Back in 2021, she raised $700,000 to help residents impacted by the catastrophic flooding in Middle Tennessee.
Another thing that Dolly has done to help make the world a better place is launch the Care More initiative at her Dollywood Parks and Resorts. This gives employees at the parks an extra day off to volunteer at a nonprofit of their choice.
"I just give from my heart. And I never know what I'm going to do or why I'm gonna do it. I just see a need and if I can fill it, then I will," shared Dolly. "I think it's important for everyone to do their share to help their fellow man. This world is so crazy. I don't think we even know what we're doing to each other and to this world. When you help somebody, it helps them, but it can help you more."
Dolly continued: "I never quite understood why we have to let religion and politics and things like that stand in the way of just being good human beings. I think it's important from that standpoint just to feel like you're doing your part, doing something decent and good and right.”

2 Corinthians 9: 7-8
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly. So that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
