When construction workers heard non-stop barking coming from a distance, they decided to investigate. And thank God they did! The barking led the workers to an unbelievable sight -- a dog stuck in tar -- and an inspiring animal rescue!
One day, during a job in Suwałki, Poland, construction workers could hear barking coming from a wooded area. The workers could have just ignored it. But as the barking continued on and on, the group decided to take a closer look in case something was wrong.

And something was definitely very, very wrong!
The non-stop barking led the construction workers to a heart-wrenching sight. They found a little dog stuck in tar!
The poor dog couldn't get himself free. But what he could do was bark. And thankfully, God put a group of compassionate workers within earshot!
Unable to free the pup themselves, the workers called upon animal rescuer Joanna Godlewska, from the Niczyje Animal Foundation.
"When I finally arrived and saw a dog lying in the tar, tears came to my eyes," Joanna recalled.
We'll never know exactly how the dog came to be trapped in tar. But they suspect the pooch, most likely abandoned, was looking for someplace warm to rest. And when he came upon the illegally-dumped tar, he laid down before realizing he wouldn't be able to get up.
Joanna called in some local fireman to help. And as the rescuers worked to free the terrified dog from the death trap, they could tell he was grateful for their efforts.
"He understood that we were saving him," Joanna said.
Getting the little dog stuck in tar free was no easy task. Rescuers used scissors to cut away the sections of fur the tar held tightest. Then they used cooking oil to help release the rest.
And at last, they pulled the dog free!
At the animal hospital, the staff worked diligently to get all of the sticky tar out of the dog's fur. Then, they tended to the minor scrapes on the side of his face.
Thankfully, the injuries were nothing big and they found the pup in good health overall, all things considered.
The rescue team named the dog stuck in tar Farcik. And while Farcik still has a few more treatments left to remove all of the tar, he's now in good, loving hands.

The first order is to give Farcik peace, patience, and love. Then, once he's done recovering from the traumatic experience, Joanna plans to find him a loving forever home.
We're so glad God put the right people in the right place at the right time to carry out this incredible animal rescue!
