Have you ever misplaced a present you meant to give to one of your children? Maybe you found it in time for their birthday or the next holiday, or maybe you never did. In the case of this story, a present went missing for over 45 years.
Tim King, a contractor from Illinois, is now 53. He was helping his parents with a home renovation when he found something unexpected: a faded Disney-themed wrapped gift from 1978. Tim was only six years old when the present was meant to be given.

Tim posted the find on his Instagram account. “That’s my Christmas present,” he says, showing his followers the red-wrapped present with different Disney characters on the wrapping paper. You can also see his name, “Timmy,” still there.
In a follow-up Instagram post, Tim opens the present in front of his mom. What was inside this 46-year-old present? It was a Matchbox Thunder Jets set, a set of model airplanes made in the 1970s. When he opened the gift in front of his mother, she had no memory of buying it.
So what exactly happened to the present for it to get lost and show up in the wall of all places? Tim’s mom, Ruth Ann, shares her theory. “I buy ahead for Christmas. Our attic has flooring and shelves, so I would just put them in the big bag until Christmas Eve and bring them all out. So it must have overflowed and fallen in there. I did not know,” she shares with Inside Edition.
Finding the gift in the wall had to be a wonderful surprise for Tim and his parents. I’m sure it brought back many memories from his childhood.
