Day Care's Sign For Parents Delivers An Important Message

Cell phones certainly help our lives in many ways. But they hijack them in many ways, too. And one day care in Texas finally had enough of seeing parents glued to their phones. So, they put up a sign -- one that's getting a collective "Amen!" across the internet. The message in the day care's sign for parents is simple and direct -- "Get off your phone!"

Juliana noticed the sign when picking up her daughter. It read:

“You are picking up your child!

GET OFF YOUR PHONE!!!!

Your child is happy to see you! Are you not happy to see your child??

“We have seen children trying to hand their parents their work they completed and the parent is on the phone. We have heard a child say ‘Mommy, mommy, mommy…” and the parent is paying more attention to their phone than their own child. It is appalling.

Get off your phone!!

Sharing The Message

Personally, Julianna loved everything about the sign.

“I thought it was awesome,” she said. “I thought it was funny and it definitely made me (think).”

Her phone was in her pocket (where she keeps it for the exact reasons outlined in the day care's sign for parents). She pulled it out and took a picture, which she posted to Facebook.

And in no time, the photo went viral!

“I think (the message) definitely resonates with people,” she said. “And it’s not just at the day care, it’s anywhere.”

There were some who felt the day care's sign to parents was out of line. Some argued certain jobs require them to stay on the phone. But overall, the collective sentiment from commenters was that the sign's message was spot on.

Our society has become so technology obsessed we often don't realize just how much time we spend on a device. What starts as "making one quick call" or "taking a quick look at email" can soon swallow up all of our free time. Much like in the Casting Crowns song, "Slow Fade," our kids have their eyes on us, even when we don't realize it.
