Rock stars are used to being showered with praise and hearing how great they are, but one talented musician humbled himself and served the homeless.
Over the years, the Foo Fighters have received critical acclaim and loyal fans for their music. The band is responsible for several chart-topping hits such as “Best of You,” “Everlong,” “My Hero” and “Learn to Fly.” The distinct voice heard on all of those songs is Dave Grohl, the band’s lead singer and guitarist.

Recently, Dave took a break from shredding on the guitar and belting out lyrics to serve others. He provided and served meals for hundreds of homeless people in Los Angeles, according to People.
The former Nirvana drummer cooked up ribs, brisket and pork butt. Dave, who paid for everything out of his pocket, also whipped up coleslaw and barbecue beans for those struggling, the outlet reports.
Not only did he provide the food and purchased everything, but Dave’s extraordinary generous act also came with a stunning time commitment. The Foo Fighters frontman stayed, volunteering at the homeless shelter for more than 24 hours, arriving around 3 p.m. on Feb. 22.

Grace Ancheta, the director of development at Hope the Mission, told Today that after Dave cut up the meat, he knew it needed to cook and season before it was ready. So, he stayed on the scene.
"The meat didn't go into the smoker until midnight that night because he's like, 'Oh, it has to season and it has to do this,'" Grace said. "He's definitely a craftsman when it comes to that, and then he spent the night."
Dave and some of the people who came along with him took turns cooking the meat overnight. In order to get some shut-eye, Dave would take naps in the shelter's parking lot, People reports.
It took an entire 24 hours until the meat was ready to be consumed. Around 6 p.m. on Feb. 23, dinner was served. Dave not only acted as chef and grill master, but he also served the meals.
