She Asks For Help With Custom Handmade Quilt For Firefighter Dad's Birthday And Goes Viral

Who knew a simple request for help to make a custom handmade quilt would go viral on TikTok? It’s all because of the love this Allison Marios has for her heroic dad Bill. She turned to the internet for help with her firefighter Dad’s birthday gift and it went viral!

“I want to do something really special for him,” Allison said in her video. And what did she need help with? She needed firefighter shirts from all fifty states.

You see, her dad would always stop at a local fire station whenever they went on vacation. But after 38 years on the job, it was his time to retire. But that won’t stop him from helping people and serving others.

“He really is passionate being a firefighter. That’s the one thing that he’s loved. If someone was born to do something, my dad was born to be a firefighter,” Allison said, “My dad is one of my number one supporters and he … he is really one of the best men in my life and I wouldn’t trade him for anything.”

Daughter's Plea For Help With Custom Handmade Quilt

Bill isn’t the only person passionate about something. His daughter is too. She actually began working on the custom handmade quilt back in 2018.

She began the project by writing handwritten letters to fire stations around the country. But as her father’s birthday grew closer, she needed to get her passionate project complete.

So, she decided to ask people on TikTok for help! And she was overwhelmed by the response.

Originally, she had only received eight shirts when she had written to firehouses. But now, she has nearly all of the states needed for the custom handmade quilt.

“It’s crazy how many people were willing to just send me a shirt out of the kindness of their hearts,” Allison said. And what is even more astonishing is the letters and notes that are coming with the shirts. One of those notes was sent from a widow of a firefighter who died in 9/11. Can you imagine the enormity and the magnitude of having a shirt from a fallen hero of 9/11?

Now that her father is retired, the custom handmade quilt will be something to comfort him and keep him warm when he’s relaxing at home with his family. All because her daughter asked strangers for help. What an incredible gift being woven with love.
