Actress, singer and reality TV star Paris Hilton came out swinging after several people posted online, attacking her young child’s looks.
Social can be used for good, to help others by raising awareness of a need or a worthy cause. But so often popular websites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are used as platforms to post hate, lies, and mockery of others. Many use such posts and messages to win likes, retweets and follows and, in some cases, do so to boost their public profile.

Social is a place where people can ruthlessly and anonymously criticize others while cowardly hiding safely behind a keyboard. Some have now even sunk so low as to attack a child’s looks, according to People.
In mid-October, Paris Hilton posted a photo of herself holding her 9-month-old son on Instagram. The caption accompanying the photo reads, “My precious angel baby Phoenix’s first time in NYC.”
While some stated how cute they believed her son to be, others took the opportunity to criticize the child’s looks. Specifically, a number of people cruelly commented on the size of the Phoenix’s head.

One person wrote that the “beautiful baby has brain inflammation” and suggested she take the child to be checked out by a pediatrician, according to NDTV.
Others, one TikTok user pointed out, compared her child to a cartoon character with an oversized, football-shaped head. Another person cruelly joked that the child had “a lot on his mind.”
But in a follow-up post on Instagram, Paris responded, defending her son and calling out those who so cruelly and callously mocked and belittled her son’s appearance, according to People.
“Living life in the spotlight, comments are inevitable, but targeting my child, or anyone else’s for that matter, is unacceptable. This hurts my heart more deeply than words can describe.”

Later in the post, the hotel heiress called her son her “world” and “the biggest blessing of my life.”
In response to a TikTok video, Paris stated an obvious fact about anyone who would mock a child’s looks.
“There are some sick people in this world,” she wrote. “My angel is perfectly healthy. And yes, of course he has been to a doctor, he just has a large brain.”
Anyone who feels compelled to write hurtful and hateful messages online about a child’s appearance while hiding behind a keyboard needs to seriously reexamine themselves and their life.
