Sure, it is certainly entertaining to watch the home improvement gurus put their God-given talents to work. But what people really love most about Chip and Joanna Gains is. . . well, them!
The two truly live out their faith every way they can. (Here's where you can read more about Joanna and Chip Gaines' faith)
And since God has blessed the Gaines family with so much, they always look for special ways to pass on His blessings to others.
One of the ways this sweet couple gives back is by donating money to charity. In 2017, for example, Chip and Joanna donated $230,000 to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
St. Jude is a leading children's hospital dedicated to treating and curing the toughest childhood diseases. And in 2019, Chip and Joanna Gaines decided to raise the stakes on their donation by getting anyone and everyone involved!
Through social media, Chip Gaines created the #chipinchallenge. There, he called upon other celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, Kacey Musgraves, Florida Georgia Line, Jessie James Decker and Drew Barrymore to help them raise even more than they did in 2017.
Through these efforts, Chip and Joanna Gaines raised $1.5 million dollars, which they delivered to the hospital. But in addition to the check, this generous couple had another special gift.
Chip and Joanna Gaines built a playhouse for the St. Jude Target House, which the duo specifically designed with the pint-sized patients in mind!
“When we heard that the space outside of Target House could use a little love, we knew right away that we wanted to create a sweet playhouse for the kids to enjoy,” Joanna Gaines said. “There’s something so special about spending time together outside and while we’re hopeful that these families will not have to stay here for very long, we wanted to create a retreat for them to explore while they are here.”
