Children Help Lonely Adults Remember How To Make Friends

When we are children, the world seems a lot less scary. We are more open to new things and we love making new friends. If you’ve ever raised or been around a toddler, you know just how easily they can find a best friend on the playground or at daycare. It seems like with just a few sentences, young people can become friends. But as the years go by, it becomes harder and harder to make new friends. We start to get shy, embarrassed or distracted by the world around us. That's why we love how these children help lonely adults.

The people at the Campaign To End Loneliness found that over half of adults in the UK say it’s been a long time since they made a new friend or connection. At a recent trip to a coffee shop, you can see numerous adults sitting by themselves. So the researchers decided to send in the experts to answer the question ‘Have we forgotten how to make friends?’ That’s when these children show up and do not hesitate to start a conversation. They immediately start to ask all kinds of questions and build a relationship with these previously guarded people.

Children are the perfect example of not hesitating to start something new and connecting with those around them. And when these adults start opening up, you can truly see the change in their personality. What a great reminder that when we take a chance, it can turn into a beautiful thing. We should all be a little bit more childlike these days. What do you think?
