Doctors said their six-year-old boy would die because of his childhood brain stem glioma, but he’s a living miracle and a medical marvel, too! 

We live in a day and age where medical advances are saving lives. But more often than not, we are faced with health problems that even technology cannot overcome. God uses these moments to remind the world he is the ultimate healer and the author of our lives.

He Received a Rare and Lethal Diagnosis 

When French doctor Jacques Grill delivered the heartbreaking news to Lucas' family that their son's life was at risk due to a childhood brain stem glioma, it seemed as though all hope was lost. A brain stem glioma is a rare and lethal diagnosis. It typically offers very little chance of survival, with grim statistics casting a shadow over families facing this devastating reality.

However, Lucas's story took an unexpected turn when he participated in the Biomede trial, a randomized controlled study exploring treatments for diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). Through divine intervention—Lucas was assigned the drug Everolimus, embarking on a journey that would defy medical expectations.

His Tumor Vanished Completely 

Over the course of five years, Lucas underwent treatment with Everolimus, leading to an astonishing outcome. His tumor vanished completely, leaving doctors and researchers astounded.

For five years, Lucas became a medical miracle, astonishing his doctors and anyone who had encountered his story! Dr. Grill expressed his disbelief, stating, "Over a series of MRI scans, I watched as the tumor completely disappeared. I don’t know of any other case like him in the world.”

A Beacon of Hope

Indeed, Lucas's case stands as a beacon of hope not only for his family but for countless others grappling with the devastating impact of DIPG. Only seven other children have survived, but none have had the same miraculous success as Lucas, where the tumors have entirely disappeared. It’s almost as if he was never sick!
