Chemo Patient And Nurse Sing 'O Holy Night' In Hospital Room

In this heartwarming video, a chemo patient and his nurse sing the Christmas classic ‘O Holy Night’ together in a hospital room.

“O holy night the stars are brightly shining

It is the night of our dear Savior's birth

Long lay the world in sin and error pining

Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth”

In this intimate, hospital room duet, Penn Pennington and his nurse, Alex, cover this beloved song with their beautiful voices. It is delightful to listen to, and the harmonies make the song sound so full, even with just the two of them singing. Penn is a session guitarist from Nashville who has played at the Grand Ole Opry for 23 years. When Alex discovered that her patient was such a talented musician, she brought in her guitar for Penn and requested that they sing together.

Because of the chemotherapy treatments that Penn has had to receive to treat his cancer, he has spent a lot of time at the hospital. Thankfully, Alex and Penn’s bedside performances have been a way for him to take his mind off the chemo treatments and focus on doing something that he loves.

It is such a wonderful sight to see music bringing these two together. And the fact that they are using their gifts to bring joy to each other as well as to everyone who has watched this video is an added blessing.

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
