This 100 Year Old Kentucky Centenarian Works At Home Depot, Offering Great Tips For a Long Life

This 100-year-old Kentucky Centenarian works at Home Depot, offering great tips for a long life. At the young age of 100, JoCleta Wilson is not just living life–she’s embracing it fully, radiating humor, vitality, and resilience. Working at Home Depot as the company’s oldest employee, JoCleta isn’t there because she has to be; she’s there because she wants to be surrounded by people and to feel the pulse of the world.

“I retired three different times — 10 years each time in retirement, and it is not what it’s cracked up to be. I got so tired of myself,” she said with a laugh, a laugh that rings with the wisdom of someone who has learned that life doesn’t slow down, not if you don’t want it to.

She works as a cashier a couple of days a week, offering her bright energy and unshakable grace to customers who probably have no idea they’re talking to someone who has lived through an entire century. There’s a quiet joy in her presence, a joy rooted in movement, connection, and the small, sacred acts that sustain us through the years.

Her advice for living well isn’t complicated, but it’s profound in its simplicity: Keep moving, eat well, savor the sweetness of life. This includes kicking up her feet a time or two.

“I have the radio everywhere. Thank goodness for Alexa,” she says with a smile. “I tell her to play something that’s really good to jump to, and I have at it.” Dance, for JoCleta, isn’t just something she did once—it’s something she still does every day to connect with the joy that still lives within her.

JoCleta Gives Some Great Advice

When it comes to nourishment, JoCleta’s wisdom shines through. “I eat well. I don’t eat out a lot. I do my own cooking and enjoy it,” she says, reminding us that caring for ourselves is a form of love, and love sustains us.

In every laugh and word of advice, JoCleta teaches us that the secret to living a full, joyful life isn’t found in the number of years we have but in how we choose to live them. "Don’t sweat the small stuff," she says. Think positive, and everything else will fall into place."
