A barn on fire is a nightmare. Especially if it’s your home and your babies are still inside. Yet this story is just another testament to a mother’s love as a brave mama cat races in to try and save her kittens from a barn on fire.
The barn had been this mama cat’s only safe place and refuge. And it was this barn that became home to her first litter of kittens until the unimaginable happened! The barn caught on fire with her babies still inside.

This brave mama loved her babies so much, she ran through the flames to get her kittens out one by one.
Sadly, only one kitten survived, a beautiful black kitten with white paws. She was heartbroken to have lost nearly all of her babies.
To make matters worse, her owners surrendered her to a shelter because they couldn’t afford to treat her injuries. This mama cat had already suffered not only smoke inhalation from running into the barn on fire but also burns to her skin and the pads of her paws. She lost all but one of her babies and now she was losing the only family she knew.
That is—until Furget Me Not Animal Rescue became this mama cat’s real-life angels!

Despite being overrun with extra strays in need of homes, the rescue immediately took the little cat family in. They treated the mama for all her injuries and even sedated her until she could heal comfortably.
They hope with time, this brave and feral mama cat will become tamer with time in hopes she and her baby will find a safe furever home!
Feel better soon, fierce mama cat. We pray that now you have been rescued, you will have the purrfect ending we are hoping and praying for. We pray you will find a home for you and your baby that you risked your life for.
