When Norman proposed to Mary in 1951, he presented her with a lovely diamond engagement ring. And when Mary lost the ring while gardening in 2004, she just couldn't bring herself to tell her husband. She quietly replaced the missing engagement ring with a look-alike. Then, 13 years later, Mary's secret was revealed when a carrot holding the missing engagement ring turned up!
"We looked high and low on our hands and knees," she said. "We couldn't find it. Her son, Ryan, was the only other person she told. But little did Mary know, a carrot would out her secret many years later!
"If you look at it, it grew perfectly around the [ring]. It was pretty weird looking," Colleen said. "I've never seen anything like that. "I'm going to wear it because it still fits," Mary said happily.
