Candace Cameron Bure Shares Fantastic News That Former Co-star, Dave Coulier, is Cancer-Free

If you were around in the 1990s, you may have been a big fan of TGIF. The show Full House was a staple of the popular Friday night lineup. Candace Cameron Bure played DJ, the eldest daughter, with Dave Coulier, who played Uncle Joey.

Back in October of 2024, Dave Coulier was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He shared with PEOPLE that an upper respiratory infection that caused swelling of his lymph nodes led to him getting tested and the diagnosis.

On March 31st, 65-year-old Dave’s friend and former co-worker Candace Cameron Bure posted fantastic news on her Instagram.

In her post, she wrote, “DAVE IS CANCER FREE!!!! Join me in celebrating this AMAZING news — let’s shower him with all the love in the world! ❤️❤️❤️”

The comments were filled with messages of love for the beloved actor. Jaleel White, who played the famous Steve Urkel from another TGIF show, Family Matters, wrote, “Look at God 🙌.”

Kelly Rizzo, the widow of Bob Saget, who played Danny Tanner on Full House, wrote, “I knew we would get this good news soon!! We all love you so much, Dave! I know Bob is smiling down big 🥹🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.” Bob passed away in 2022.

Dave Recently Had a Biopsy With No Sign of Cancer

In Candace’s Instagram post, she included photos of the two friends as well as one from the show when they were DJ and Uncle Joey. Showing the world how much she cares about her friend and how happy she is at his news.

Dave recently had a biopsy on a lymph node in his neck. “Melissa and I waited for a week to get the biopsy results back, and there is no sign of cancer,” he explains in an interview with Parade. “One of the few times in my life when ‘zero’ has been a great number to hear.”

At the time of that interview, he was still awaiting the results of an additional CAT scan. This will determine if his cancer “will be in the rear-view mirror,” he says.

Dave is Also a New Grandfather

Dave has a lot to celebrate, as he also just become a grandfather. His son Luc welcomed a baby boy on March 27th.

Although Dave's cancer journey has not been easy, he has been able to use his humor to keep his spirits up. He has also been able to pull inspiration from family members. The actor lost his mom and sister Sharon to breast cancer as well as losing his niece, who was 29 at the time. His older sister Karen is also going through cancer.

"I saw what those women in my family went through, and I thought to myself, ‘If I can be just 1/10th of a percent as strong as they were, then I'm going to be just fine,' " Dave shared. Dave also has the support of his wife Melissa.

We will keep Dave in our prayers and celebrate his cancer-free news. May God continue to walk alongside him through this journey.
