Candace Cameron Bure Shuts Down Drama Stirred Up By Former Fuller House Cast Member

For Candace Cameron Bure, drama broke out when a former Fuller House cast member suggested she tried to get a gay character fired. But the Christian celebrity set the record straight and denied these allegations!

As a Christian celebrity, having Biblical and traditional views often makes Candace a target. And some drama broke out when a transgender actress who goes by the name Miss Benny suggested Cameron Cameron Bure sought to have her fired.

Miss Benny was cast for the role of Casey, the show's first gay character. And according to Miss Benny, Candace wanted the character removed.

“I remember I got sat down by the writers and the studio to basically warn me how this person allegedly was trying to get the character removed and not have a queer character on the show,” Miss Benny said. "I was also sort of warned and prepared that this person's fan base might be encouraged to target me specifically."

The accuser also pointed out, "Despite working on the show every day for two weeks straight -- I have only had a conversation with one of the Tanner sisters."

Though Miss Benny never officially named Candace Cameron Bure within the TikTok video, instead directing the accusations at "one of the Tanner sisters," the hashtags on the video included #candacebure.

Additionally, the only other "Tanner sister" aside from Candace is actress Jodie Sweetin, who has very publicly expressed her support of the LGTB+ community. So, even without the hashtag, the fans of Miss Benny automatically presumed the allegations referred to Candace.

Candace Cameron Bure Shuts Down Drama

Rather than get caught up in the drama, Candace Cameron Bure simply denied the allegations and wished Miss Benny the best.

“I never asked Miss Benny’s character to be removed from Fuller House and did not ask the writers, producers or studio executives to not have queer characters on the show,” she explained. “Fuller House has always welcomed a wide range of characters. I thought Miss Benny did a great job as ‘Casey’ on the show. We didn’t share any scenes together, so we didn’t get a chance to talk much while filming on set. I wish Miss Benny only the best.”

At this point, Candace is no stranger to becoming a target because of her traditional views of marriage. However, standing strong in Christian values doesn't equate to hate, as can sometimes be suggested. Candace Cameron Bure demonstrated this in the face of drama over the plans her network, Great American Family, have to "keep traditional marriage at the core" of the programming.
