There's A Candace Cameron Bure Controversy Over TikTok And She's Responding To Her Critics

For Candace Cameron Bure, controversy is nothing new. This time, the backlash stems from a TikTok video of her dancing with a Bible. And here's what the Christian celebrity has to say about it!

Candace Cameron Bure is a well-known Christian celebrity who isn't afraid to speak out about her faith. But a video she shared on her TikTok account left quite a lot of people baffled and disturbed.

In keeping with the TikTok trend, Candace performed a brief lip-synch to the song "Jealous Girl" by Lana Del Rey. The caption to her video read "When they don’t know the power of the Holy Spirit." Candace stared directly into the camera mouthing the lyrics:

"Baby, I’m a gangster too and it takes two to tango

You don’t wanna’ dance with me, dance with me.”

At the same time, she danced along and flashed her Bible.

Apparently, the bizarre video was meant to extol the power of the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately for Candace Cameron Bure, the video completely missed the mark and controversy ensued.

Candace's TikTok video, which has since been removed, disturbed fans and critics alike. Some felt the Christian celebrity's dancing was too "sexy" and "seductive." Others felt it was just downright "creepy."

Candace Cameron Bure is no stranger to controversy. And she's certainly not afraid to fire back at her critics. She's done so before when a photo of Candace Cameron Bure and her husband drew backlash, as well as when folks heckled one of her family photos.

But in this instance, Candace did something unexpected. She apologized to her fans.

“I just came home and read a lot of messages that were not happy with my latest Instagram post that was a TikTok video. And I usually don’t apologize for these things, but a lot of you thought it was weird, and I’m sorry,” she said.

What It Was All About

Candace Cameron Bure went on to try and explain the intention behind the video sparking so much controversy.

"I was using a very specific clip from TikTok and applying it to the power of the Holy Spirit, which is incredible," she said. “And so many of you thought that I was trying to be seductive, which clearly means I’m not a very good actress because I was trying to be strong, not sexy or seductive. So I guess that didn’t work, but I deleted it.”

Candace, who has 5 million fans on Instagram alone, is usually pretty savvy when it comes to social media. However, this is clearly one instance where she got it wrong!

”Maybe I was just trying to be too cool or relevant in a Biblical way that didn’t work,” she said. "Now I know what you don’t like."
