This bride is taking her wedding photos alone after an alleged drunk driver took her fiancé’s life. Jessica Padgett and Kendall Murphy were all set to wed on September 29, 2018 but tragedy struck and everything changed.
On November 10, 2017, Kendall, a volunteer firefighter, was killed while assisting a car crash victim. The driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. On what would have been her wedding day, Jessica’s mother set up a photo shoot for her daughter in order to honor Kendall and help her heal. Jessica donned her wedding dress and took portraits in front of her would be husband's grave.
If these moments were enough to bring on the tears, the entire wedding party decided to show up and support this brave woman. Together, they took pictures to capture the special day. Members of the community even wrote letters to Jessica. There were enough for her to read a new one every single day for six months.
After the images were posted online, the story quickly went viral with people from all over the world expressing their sympathy and condolences. “Thank you, everyone, for making my wedding day special even though I didn’t get to marry the man of my dreams,” Jessica wrote.
While this day was not like anything she had planned, this bride will certainly remember it for the rest of her life. It’s amazing to see so many friends and family come together to support Jessica during this difficult time. We are all praying for this bride.
