See Why This Bride Decided To Shave Her Head At Wedding Reception

Did She Really Just Shave Her Head?

Lots and lots of pictures. That's something that definitely comes out of a wedding. So then why did this bride just shave her head in the middle of her big day!?! The answer is heartbreakingly beautiful. But he was too shy to reveal his true feelings. The UK couple remained "just friends" for 30 years, until Craig finally professed his love to Joan while aboard a ferry on the River Mersey 18 months ago. With the cat finally out of the bag, next Craig proposed to Joan at McDonald's, with milkshake in hand.
"That is how we are," Joan joked. "That is our little heaven enjoying the simple things, as long as we're together."

And the brave bride decided to do something extra special to kick things off. godupdates bride opts to shave her head for dying groom 3 Credit: Kimberley Struth / Struth Photography First, Joan's beautiful tresses were pulled into braids. Then, as the song "Ferry Across the Mersey" was played on saxophone to commemorate the couple's beginning, Joan let a close friend, along with Craig's barber, shave her head. godupdates bride opts to shave her head for dying groom 4 Credit: Kimberley Struth / Struth Photography
"I was really relaxed during the process, just thinking how thankful and privileged I was to be able to do this," she said.
This courageous bride wanted to shave her head as a tribute to her husband, but also to honor all of those impacted by a terminal illness. She donated her long locks to Little Princess Trust, an organization that makes wigs for terminally ill children. And Craig couldn't be prouder of his bald beauty. After Joan's new "do" was complete, Craig took her face in his hands, telling his wife how stunning she looked. Love and joy radiated from the pair as they kissed. godupdates bride opts to shave her head for dying groom 6 Credit: Kimberley Struth / Struth Photography The big day was not only memorable, but a huge success. In fact, Craig says the donations are still rolling in! And the fact that their days of officially being Mr. and Mrs. Lyons may be short in no way detracts from the incredible love they share.
"After all these years, how blessed I was that it was me he chose to share his life with," Joan said. "Nothing could ever take that moment away from me; and I will remain by his side and share his fight."

And if I have the gift of prophecy and I know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I parcel out all my possessions, and if I hand over my body in order that I will be burned, but do not have love, it benefits me nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
