A couple receives the biggest surprise blessing after a cervical cancer diagnosis. Doctors said it would be impossible to get pregnant, so imagine the delight and joy Mia Donahue Sjöman had when she saw those two little pink lines.
Mia’s story began in 2013 when she faced the heartbreaking news: her dreams of carrying a child would never come true. Mia and her husband Pierre didn’t let this deter them from becoming parents and opted to try IVF. But after six rounds and a miscarriage, Mia and Pierre turned to surrogacy. They were over the moon to know they would soon become parents thanks to another sweet, compassionate soul who was willing to carry their child for them. As they went through the hundreds of little steps of surrogacy, Mia felt sick and assumed it was another kidney infection.

The pain was so terrible that Pierre took her to the ER to get help. That’s when they received news no one was expecting. Mia was two months pregnant. It was as if God stepped in and said, “Impossible? Watch what I can do.”
"I was completely surprised," she says. "Because they removed my cervix during my surgery and put in something called a cerclage, I've been told by three reproductive endocrinologists (REs) and two OBs that we would never get pregnant naturally, to the point it wasn't even on my mind. We had no idea. It was like this was supposed to happen, in the wildest way."
Mia gave birth first to their daughter Lane, and just a few short weeks later, they met their son Ronin. Every day, the couple looks at their two precious children and thank God for the miracle. Their story is about never giving up hope and being faithful to the Lord who specializes in miracles.
When the path in life looks impossible, and the odds are insurmountable, God writes endings that we couldn’t imagine. Their story reminds us to trust in the Lord even when it’s hard. He can do what no one else can. Because with God, nothing is impossible. Absolutely nothing.
