Bird Lands on Reporter’s Head and Startles Her Moments Before Going on Air

A bird lands on a reporter's hair moments before she goes live on air and it startles her.

Today, there are an endless amount of news outlets. Some of them are on TV, others are online only while some outlets may do a combination of both. Not only do the outlets differ in how they communicate their news, but also in what they cover. Whatever your interest may be, there is guaranteed to be a news website that reports on that field of interest or topic.

With so many news outlets, reporters are needed to fill those positions. One of the more obvious beats for a reporter is politics. Typically this includes covering the president of the United States and the goings on at the White House.

Bird Lands on Reporters Head

One woman, NewsNation’s White House reporter Kellie Meyer, was set to give her daily report, moments away from going on air when she encountered an unexpected visitor. Kellie actually had a bird that landed on her head.

It's clear from the look on her face that Kellie was more than a little startled by the animal’s unplanned stop atop her cranium. She ducks down slightly as her eyes go wide.

After the bird makes momentary contact with Kellie’s noggin, it flies away, possibly to find someone else to land on.

Somehow, she was able to laugh off the encounter, keep her cool and go on TV to give her report as planned.

“I just could not believe it,” Kellie said. “I didn’t know what it was. I didn’t know at the time what kind of bird, what size, anything like that, but I was just making sure it wasn’t coming back.”

Reporters are often sent to some of the most dangerous places on Earth, putting themselves in danger to get the story. But who knew that reporting at the White House could result in a bird attack?
