Bear Trying To Beat The Heat Goes Swimming In A Pool And Causes Quite A Stir

Members of one California police department encountered a startling scene: a large animal enjoying a relaxing dip in a pool.

June, July and August often bring scorching temperatures and devastating, sweltering humidity. As a result of the warm conditions, people will venture out to pools, lakes, rivers and oceans. Besides staying indoors and enjoying good, old-fashioned air conditioning, jumping in a body of water is the next popular activity.

However, it turns out humans are not the only species on Earth that want to escape the heat and humidity. As a video posted on YouTube shows, a bear in Southern California was found chilling in someone’s backyard jacuzzi in Burbank, California.

Apparently, the weather conditions in the Golden State had officially become too un”bear”ably hot.

CNN reports that someone called the Burbank Police Department after spotting the large animal in the backyard pool. Then bear wanted to try the jacuzzi because that’s where police found the bear upon arrival.

The video of the bear relaxing shows the animal without a care in the world. The animal, at one point, even appears to look directly at the camera.

One person even states how much they empathize with the bear in the clip.

“I don’t blame him,” someone says in the video.

But it does appear that the large animal knew it was time to dry off and move along. Not too long after the officers got to the scene, the bear exited the jacuzzi and “made his way over the wall,” according to CNN.

Thousands Of Black Bears Reside In California

Anyone coming home to see a bear enjoying their pool would be a startling and shocking sight, to say the least. But thousands of black bears reside in California, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Currently, California’s “statewide population is conservatively estimated to be between 30,000 and 40,000 bears,” the website reads.
