Cashier's Act Of Kindness For Grieving Mother Goes Viral

Kind Cashier Makes A Difference With A Baby Blanket

When Australian mom, Jacinta Masters, stopped at Best & Less, a local retail store, it was for a heartbreaking reason. Her unborn baby boy had passed away, so doctors were going to have to induce labor. But first, the grieving mom decided to stop at the store. In addition to returning his baby gifts, Jacinta wanted to pick up a baby blanket for her stillborn son. And in that terrible time, the kindness shown by Jo, the cashier helping Jacinta at the store, was a true Godsend. godupdates grieving mom thanks cashier for baby blanket fb Credit: Facebook / Jacinta Masters

A Heartbreaking Loss

Sammy would have been Jacinta's fourth child. But sadly, he developed a condition known as hydrops fetalis. It's a condition where excess fluid builds up in the baby's tissue and organs. And at 25 weeks, it claimed Sammy's life while he was still in the womb. [rsnippet id="3" name="Article-Ad"] Jacinta was heartbroken. Before giving birth to a baby she already knew was gone, she decided to return some of the baby clothes first. And God put just the right cashier in her path -- a kind woman who's name Jacinta later learned was Jo. RELATED: Grieving mom honors the baby she lost with a miscarriage tattoo

A Special Angel

Jo not only helped Jacinta return the items she'd brought, but also provided a shoulder to cry on. She showed incredible compassion, and even helped Jacinta find a baby blanket to wrap Sammy's tiny body in once he arrived. It was such an intimate moment shared between strangers. Jacinta couldn't help but write a letter of gratitude. Jacinta posted the heartfelt letter on Facebook, along with a picture of her holding Sammy wrapped in the baby blanket Jo had purchased. And the cashier's kindness for this grieving mom struck a chord with thousands of people.

A Beautiful 'Thank You'

Jacinta's touching letter read:
"You didn't know me. But I came in to best and less this morning, to return some special suits I brought for my baby I was carrying. I was told I couldn't return them because I didn't have the bank card with me that I used to purchase. And I broke down and explained I didn't have it, and I was on my way to hospital to be induced to have my baby who had passed away, and I wanted them returned now because I don't want to see them or deal with them when I get home. And in the split second that I said that, I seen the sincerity in your face. You got your manager to over ride that policy to give me my refund. You then asked me if I had a blanket to wrap him in. I didn't. It was one of the things I had to buy that morning. You came and gave me a big hug and let me cry on your shoulder. You then took me to the blanket section and helped me pick out a blanket. It was perfect.

At the check out, I tried to pay for it. But you turned my money away and covered it out of your own pocket. I cried some more. And told you, you are such an angel. I was lost for words. I didn't know how to thank you!! I cried all the way to the hospital. I sat out the front of the hospital for 15 mins, just crying and clutching my baby's blanket. I don't know you, and sadly I don't even know your name. But I want you to know how thankful I am to have met you and thankful for what you did for me and my little Sammy. I just want you to know, it brought so much comfort cuddling his blanket through the contractions, and then wrapping him in it when he was born. And I'll never EVER forget what you did for me and my baby. You truly are an angel and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!! xxxx"
