His 'Ain't No Sunshine' Audition Is Amazing but Archie Williams' Story Is As Powerful As His Voice

Archie Williams' story is one that sticks with you. He spent 36 years behind bars for something he didn't do. But now, he's finally free and dazzling audiences with his incredible performance of 'Ain't No Sunshine.' This is one powerful America's Got Talent audition you do not want to miss!

Archie Williams first graced the stage on America’s Got Talent back in 2020. “When I first came to AGT, I was so nervous because I used to watch America’s Got Talent in prison. And I would always visualize myself being there,” Archie shared.

And the talented singer is back on America’s Got Talent: All-Stars to share his gift with the judges and audience yet again.

Wrongfully Imprisoned For 36 Years

Archie Williams recalls his story for the crowd, explaining what landed him in jail so many years ago.

“I was walking down the street one night in 1982, and the police just threw down on me and arrested me for a crime someone else committed,” Archie shared before his audition. “As years went on, I filed for DNA testing once it became available in the United States. It took me all this time, 36 years, to gain my freedom.”

“Many times when I was in prison, I felt like giving up,” he said. “Music is really what got me through to freedom.”

Archie Williams Now

Since his first time sharing his story on AGT, Archie Williams talked about what he has been doing with his time lately.

“Since then, I’ve been doing a lot of positive things, like traveling around the world with the Innocent Project to help innocent guys with situations like mine,” he said.

But now he’s back and more excited than ever to sing again on the AGT stage.

“I’m so grateful to be here,” he shared. “I’m just gonna give it my all.”

Before his performance, Archie starts off by saying these words: “When I was 12 years old, I met the love of my life. And her name is music. They tried to take away my life, but I wouldn’t let them take away my song.”

Then he starts to sing ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ and his performance is so heartfelt and powerful! What an incredibly moving audition!

“They took away 36 years of sunshine,” comments one person on YouTube. “Yet, breaking through that sadness is Archie's light - in that green suit, like the first rays of sun sparkling on the dew of the grass in the morning - Archie rose to greet another day. Now he is finally getting his time to shine. Proud of you Archie! It takes a strong individual to not let the dark things in this world put out your light.”

A Prayer to Stir Up Thanksgiving Gratefulness - Your Daily Prayer - November 28

One way the Pilgrims showed thankfulness was by being generous with the Native Americans, sharing their faith, time, and harvest with them. Like them, we can stir up Thanksgiving gratefulness around us, too, by being generous.
