News Reporter Called to Report on Incident at Her Son's School And Their Reunion Is Caught On Air

When a school shooting in Denver, Colorado, took place, Alicia Acuna, a Fox News reporter, didn't just show up to cover the story. Her 17-year-old son was also a student there. And when Alicia spotted him safe in the crowd, her job as a mother took priority over her job as a reporter!

Good reporters can tell a story and report from a scene without adding their thoughts, feelings or opinions.

But for one journalist, this was easier said than done, and for good reason.

News Reporter Hugs Her Son On Air

Unfortunately, it feels like every other day there is a new school shooting. At this point, the way these horrible and devastating events play out are all very similar. Schools are placed on lockdown for hours as authorities hunt for the perpetrator while journalists update the public on the number of people injured and killed.

However, for Fox News reporter Alicia Acuna, a school shooting in Denver, Colorado became extremely personal. She was sent to report on a shooting at a high school where her 17-year-old son is a student.

That mother must have been experiencing overwhelming fear, dread, and anxiety while wondering whether her child was unharmed or injured.

Luckily, Alicia was able to reunite with her son. While reporting about the shooting, with yellow police tape behind her, Alicia gave her son a big embrace live on air.

However, prior to the hug, Alicia, with obvious emotion in her voice, mentions that she has not seen her son since word of the shooting first broke.

After the quick but loving hug with her son, the Fox News reporter Alicia Acuna actually apologizes for the show of emotion.

“I’m so sorry,” she said. “I just, there’s no way you would have let your kid walk by.”

There probably isn’t anyone who would blame the concerned mother for showing emotion and hugging her son in such a situation. Most people, more than likely would not have been able to keep it together long enough to report, knowing that their child may have been a victim.

What a beautiful reunion and display of love from a woman who is a mother first and a reporter second.

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
