NCIS Actor Mark Harmon risked everything to save a stranger’s life, and the story of his act of kindness is so inspiring!
Some may remember Mark Harmon from his starring role on St. Elsewhere, and others know him from the hit CBS show, NCIS. In the series NCIS (an acronym for Naval Criminal Investigative Service), he reprises the role of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

As though drama found its way from the show’s set to real life, actor Mark Harmon found not himself, but someone else in a dire situation.
Riding as passenger with a friend, 16-year-old Colin Specht found himself in a fiery car after a sudden accident.
Colin said, “I owe everything to him. I have no doubt that I would not be alive.”
Colin’s friend was driving too fast just before the car hit a tree and flipped.
The friend managed to flee the car, but Colin was unfortunately pinned inside. Fortunately, all hope was not lost. A stranger appeared on the scene and freed him from the fiery vehicle, first busting the window with a sledge hammer, then pulling him out.
“He tugged me, because I was still upside down with the seat belt in, and he ripped me out of the car.”
He sustained third-degree burns and spent months in the hospital as a result.
While Colin’s parents told him who his hero was, Mark had not until recently discussed the event. His actions show how much he values humility.
The actor said, “I won’t take credit for it, because if the car explodes and I’m there next to the car, then you’re talking about two young boys who don’t have a father. And you’d be doing this interview with my wife and talking about how stupid it was.”
Colin shared, “He had more to lose.”
“He had a wife, children, and the career based on his face and his looks. That’s true altruism.”
After the incident Colin met Mark Harmon and his wife of 33 years, Pam Dawber, TV star of Mork and Mindy fame. She was actually the person who called 911 as her husband performed the rescue.
“There’s no way I can repay him, except to pay it forward, and I try to do that in my life,” Colin admitted.
