After Going On a Fun Airport Journey, A Lost Stuffed Bunny Finds Its Way Back Home

After a fun airport journey, a lost stuffed bunny finds its way back home. Any parent who has ever seen the heartbreak in their child’s eyes when a beloved stuffed animal goes missing can relate to this sweet story. But for one little bunny, its journey through Pittsburgh International Airport ended in a reunion that was anything but ordinary—and full of joy.

The bunny, affectionately named Bunny, was well-worn with long gray ears and was the constant companion of a young girl named Waylynn. The mishap began when Bunny got separated from Waylynn during a trip to the airport. But what happened next was pure magic.

They Found the Bunny and Started Sharing

Patti Getty, who’s worked for 11 years at the Information Desk at Pittsburgh International Airport, discovered the lost bunny in the baggage claim area. “We found this bunny, and it needed some love. I wanted to take it around and show what Pittsburgh airport is like,” Patti said. Her eyes twinkled as she recalled what happened next.

Instead of simply placing Bunny in lost and found, Patti decided to give it a little tour of the terminal. “I wanted to share the bunny’s adventures, so I started snapping pictures,” she said, sharing photos of Bunny enjoying its airport journey. On February 4th, Patti posted to social media with the caption: “Lost bunny needs to find its way home.”

In the photos, Bunny could be seen standing in front of the Pittsburgh Airport sign, “resting” in the airport’s famous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame area, and even peeking out of a giant suitcase. The posts quickly went viral, captivating thousands of hearts. Travelers, families, and airport staff alike all rallied to help reunite Bunny with its owner.

They Showed the Bunny Lots of Love

As the days passed, the airport kept everyone updated with videos and posts of Bunny’s “adventures.” “We showed Bunny LOTS of love,” Patti shared. But she knew it needed to be back with its owner so, the airport posted a phone number for Waylynn’s family to call, and the search continued.

The sweet ending came when Waylynn’s great-grandmother made her way to the airport to retrieve the beloved stuffed animal. “We’re so happy to reunite lost items with their owners,” Patti said, her voice filled with warmth. “We’re so happy to reunite lost items with their owners and it is ESPECIALLY joyful to reunite sentimental lost items like Bunny! Thanks to the awesome Pittsburgh community for sharing these posts and spreading the word so we could bring Bunny home,” she added.

And that’s exactly what happened—a journey that started with a misplaced bunny and a few photographs turned into a wave of kindness, all leading to a reunion filled with joy. It's the kind of magic you can’t make up, but when it happens, it fills your heart to the brim.

The Lost Bunny Went Back Home

“It’s what the world needs more of—everyone wanting to help everyone,” Patti said with a smile, as Bunny made its way back into Waylynn’s arms.

As we reflect on this story, it reminds us that even the smallest gestures—whether it's taking a stuffed bunny on an airport tour or sharing a missing pet’s photo—can be the little things that create ripples of goodness in the world. And sometimes, those ripples lead to reunions that make our hearts soar.

May we all take a moment today to share in the joy, celebrate the celebrations, and walk alongside one another through life’s little adventures.
