Pentatonix Turns ‘Mary Did You Know?’ Into An A Cappella Masterpiece

There’s no doubt that ‘Mary Did You Know’ is one of the most popular modern Christmas songs. And today, the talented a cappella group, Pentatonix, is performing this powerful Christmas hymn. And the Pentatonix 'Mary Did You Know' is simply stunning.

‘Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?

Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?

Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?

When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God’

Mark Lowry Wrote the Original 'Mary Did You Know?' Lyrics

It took over 7 years for Mark Lowry, the songwriter, to perfect the lyrics to this song.

The idea came to Lowry when he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell and he started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him. He wondered how she must have felt when the angel told her she would birth a child of God.

Then, he put together the questions that eventually became the lyrics we all know and love today.

‘Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?

Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?

Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?

That sleeping child you're holding is the great I am’

Decades later, this song still resonates with hearts all over the world. And when you hear this beautiful Pentatonix rendition, you will be in awe.

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
