This Brave 5-Year-Old Saved Her Mother's Life By Calling 911

This brave 5-year-old saved her mother’s life by calling 911.

After an evening of family time that included dinner and fun conversations about Zoe Reddick's adventures at school that day, she and her mother had settled down to read a book and then pick out a movie to watch together when the unthinkable happened.

Zoe's Mother Had Passed Out

Zoe’s mother, Jessica, had passed out. She was unresponsive but Zoe knew just what to do. Despite the fear gnawing at her, Zoe took ten deep breaths to calm herself. She then called family members before calling 911. “I was in my room and I was watching TV and my mom just fainted. Can you come hurry? I already called my Poopy and my grandma,” Zoe said.

She sounded so incredibly brave and calm on the phone as she told dispatch that her mommy had passed out. She also gave dispatch her home address.

When Jessica became conscious, she was in shock that she was surrounded by paramedics. She didn’t remember passing out. “Everyone was surrounding me and I’m like, what happened?” She recalled. Jessica learned her daughter had called 911.

“I was totally blown away. The way she remained calm, the way she gave accurate information,” her mom said. But then Zoe shared her secret of staying calm in such a stressful and terrifying situation.

Our children are little sponges, and they soak up everything they see and hear. Little Zoe is blessed to have a mom who taught her how to get help and remain calm. She became a hero through her actions, and it’s such an incredible story. We hope this sweet girl lifted your spirits today.

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
