5 Bible Verses Related To Entertainment and Having Fun

Many people on the outside have this idea that being a Christian is boring and no fun at all.  But, God designed us for the complete opposite.  Being a Christian is a radical thing and it is an adventure for sure!  God designed us in His image and He wants us to enjoy life and live it to the fullest!  This includes anything media and music that can bring you closer to Him, other Christians, or to others that need to hear about Jesus!  God wants us to have fun!  He wants us to live a thriving life!

Here are 5 verses related to entertainment and having fun!

Philippians 4:8 – “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

This verse needs to be the foundation of your thoughts.  If you are obeying this verse, you can really enjoy entertainment from the media.  Look at all of the Christian comedians: Chonda Pierce, Brad Stine and Tim Hawkins will have you cracking up!

Psalm 95:1 – “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!”

Christian music is a great way to emulate this verse.  Think of how much joy fills your soul when you sing praises to God!  Or, look at how the little children laugh and dance when they sing in church; they always make me smile and want to join in!

Ecclesiastes 2:24 – “There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil.  This also, I saw, is from the hand of God.”

How about it!  You and I can even find enjoyment in our toil!  How many times have you dreaded going to work?  Try and find some fun in it!  I drive a forklift a lot and I usually end up singing or thinking of funny moments of my life while I’m on it.  Give it a try.  Work can be fun!

Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 – “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under Heaven…a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”

There are certainly times for sorrow when tragedy hits, but in normal day to day you can have joy and fun!  For you married folks, try and rekindle the fire you may have let die down.  Cook a meal together and dance in the kitchen to your favorite music.  Make each other laugh!  For you single folks, stay true to yourself and to God and learn to laugh at your own inadequacies.  I find myself often laughing when I goof up on something.  Make others around you feel welcome.  Laugh with them and enjoy their company!

The Song Of Solomon 1:2,4 – “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!  For your love is better than wine.  Draw me after you; let us run.  The king has brought me into his chambers.”

Let’s be honest.  Sex is very fun in the bonds of marriage.  God created it for marriage and the pleasures from it are phenomenal!  To say that sexual intimacy with your spouse is not entertaining or fun would be a lie.

Some Entertaining Jokes

I thought I would end this with some funny Christian humor for you!  Here are some funny jokes by Tim Hawkins!

“People say, ‘I slept like a baby last night’.  What, did you wake up screaming and wet the bed?”

“My wife and I, we don’t spank our kids either.  We use a Taser!”

“Ladies, you’re all about the questions late at night.  Look, stop it ladies.  We don’t know what that sound is, ok.  You get up and look for it.  I don’t know what it is.  Newsflash!  We’re just as scared as you are.”

“It’s called ‘show business’ not ‘showall (she’ll) give it all away’.  They don’t take ‘love’ at Target!”

“We have Christianese, our own language, ya know?  Servant’s heart, you ever been called that?  I don’t know what to say to these people.  ‘Bro, you have a servant’s heart, Tim’.  Why thank you!  And you have a ‘giver’s appendix’!  I appreciate that.  You have the ‘follicles of understanding my friend!’”

Tim Hawkins "Things you don't say to your wife"

Conclusion

The Bible has some really good verses on entertainment and fun, and I hope these jokes were entertaining and fun to read!  We are called to be the salt and light to the world, and making people laugh with wholesome, morally sound jokes can show them that it is not necessary to be raunchy and vulgar to make people laugh.  God has a sense of humor and we are made in His image, so let’s have fun in ways that would make God laugh too!  God bless you all!
