Summers are a time filled with celebrations of every kind from graduations to weddings. Weddings are most popular in the Months of May, June, July, August and September. If you’re still planning your wedding or have allowed some leeway room, maybe you should consider adding one (or a few) of these 10 Contemporary Christian songs for a wedding to your playlist.
Favorite Lyric: “So I promise to be true to you. To live my life in purity as unto you. Waiting for the day when I hear you say‘Here is the one I have created just for you’”
When it comes to great places to start and remain purity is a primary concern. Intimate relations out of wedlock are not “old school,”it’s by God’s design. God has “one”picked out for those He calls to be married, wait on his timing and live a pure life following His Will.
Favorite Lyric: “I will be here. When you feel like being quiet. When you need to speak your mind. I will listen. And I will be here”
In a marriage it is important to be sensitive to your spouses needs. Whether that’s giving them space or lending a listening ear. Yet whether its to give someone space or listen we need to be available at moments notice.
Favorite Lyric: “Here we are at the start committing to each other. By His word and from our hearts. We will be a family in a house that will be a home and with faith we'll build it strong.”
Favorite Lyric: “If home is really where the heart is then home must be a place that we all share for even withour difference our hearts are much the same and where love is we come together there.”
If you’re looking for a wedding song that relates to the topic of “home,”look no further. Home isn’t necessarily just a building but it can be where the heart is. When we have a relationship with Christ He makes His home in our hearts-Emmanuel, “God with us.”
Favorite Lyric: “Love is not a place to come and go as we please. It’s a house we enter in then commit to never leave”
In keeping with the home/house theme…
Favorite Lyric: “I wonder what God was thinking when He created you. I wonder if He knew everything I would need because He made all my dreams come true when God made you. He must have been thinking about me.”
God has created each of us uniquely. From our physical appearance to our emotional quirks. He knows what’s best for us, which is first and foremost Himself, but He also desires to unite us with someone who will represent Christ well to us and whom we can mirror Christ as well.
Favorite Lyric: “Now you're here and everything's changing. Suddenly life means so much. I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and find out this promise is true. I will never have to go back to the day before you”
Favorite Lyric: “And I have never been so sure of anything before, like I am in this moment here with you. And now, for better or for worse, so much more than only words and I pray everyday will be the proof that I mean what I say when I say ‘I Do’.”
Vows are binding, when the covenant between one man and one woman is made and the words “I do”are stated, following some tough tasks: “I, (name), do take you (name), to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.”
Favorite Lyric: “Every long lost dream led me to where you are. Others who broke my heart they were like Northern stars pointing me on my way into your loving arms this much I know is true that God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you.”
Favorite Lyric: “Love is not proud, Love does not boast. Love after all matters the most. Love does not run. Love does not hide. Love does not keep locked inside.”
A friend of mine recently brought this song to my attention as she has been planning for her wedding. She asked me to give it a listen so I did. I listened to the song about three times in a row right off the bat because I enjoyed the message of the song so much. It takes a looks at 1 Corinthians 13 and puts parts of it to song. Through the Bible we have access to a great definition of love and what it is and is not. This song is not only perfect for a wedding but it’s a great reminder for how we should love as Christ loved us.
These are just a few songs an comments about some Christian songs for a wedding to consider. What do you think? Am I missing one in particular that you’d love to hear at your wedding or had?
