For this cause, see, the days are coming, says the Lord, when it will no longer be said, By the living Lord, who took the children of Israel up out of the land of Egypt.

The Lord liveth, that brought up - See Isaiah 43:18.
These two verses, by promising a deliverance greater than that from Egypt, implied also a chastisement more terrible than the bondage in the iron furnace there. Instead of their being placed in one land, there was to be a scattering into the north and many other countries, followed finally by a restoration.
16:14 Notwithstanding - God sweetens the dreadful threatenings preceding, with a comfortable promise of their restoration.
