Adorable Toddler Warms Your Heart As She Says Her Goodnight Prayers

This adorable toddler will warm your heart as she says her goodnight prayers! Oh, if every parent were teaching their children to do this at the close of each day, what a difference that might make!

Watch as this sweet pea, feet tucked under her bottom, likely freshly bathed and onesied up for the night, tightly closes her eyes and begins her recitation. The verse is familiar with a slight derivation in the last two lines; there are a few versions of the old favorite that always begins as follows:

Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

Her adaptation continues with “Watch me, keep me through the night,” and ends with a line about morning or shining light. Though she does her best to enunciate each word, it’s a bit difficult to understand. This little cherub is still learning how to speak clearly. However, she has this beautiful prayer memorized and is determined to get it just right for Mom, Dad, and Heavenly Father!

She claps her eyes shut but has a hard time keeping them closed. She wants to make sure she’s got her parents’ attention and admiration. But, they aren’t the only ones watching. Her pink teddy bear and her buddy in yellow sit erect and attentive as their baby girl friend holds her pudgy paws together and says her prayers.

As she says Amen and drops her hands, she wears a beautiful smile. Little one, ready to crawl under her comfy covers, feels safe and happy, and, while she may not yet understand the meaning of her prayer in that moment or the power of prayer in the inevitable sad or lonely days ahead, she will one day!

Bless this sweet toddler, and bless her parents for starting early in the process of teaching and equipping her with the spiritual tools that she’ll need to serve and survive as she grows!

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
